Hello, I am an old biker from Minnesota, but recently purchased a low miles 2003 F650CS.  The oil change and tire removal writeups from Karen are great.  With no recent posts, I was just wondering where everyone went.  Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!  Thanks for the compliment, I couldn't have done the oil/tire changes without my husband's help.  So how do you like your CS?  It's the same year as mine and it's such a great versatile bike.  BTW, most of the posting usually happens in the "Bar" section of the forums.

Thanks for the welcome.  I was looking for a capable, lightweight street bike.  My typical ride is around town and short weekend trips, so the CS seems perfect.

I like the handling and features, especially the mpg, fuel injection, heated grips, cast wheels and belt drive.
I don’t like the battery location or the difficulty of checking the oil.  My bike’s dipstick gets tight and will not unscrew when warm.  The exhaust pipe was brown and spotted; I used Simichrome to make it look new again.  The stuff-bay hard-case is goofy looking (what were they thinking?) but extremely useful.  I agree with your comment about it being an all-around versatile bike.

Our weather has gone sour, so I’ve only put on a couple hundred miles.  I’ve winterized my other bike, but not the CS.  It may get up to 50 degrees over Thanksgiving, so I plan to be out riding.

Be careful with those wheels you like, they bend easily.
